The Indiana Fever hosts the two-time defending champions Las Vegas Aces for the final time this 2024 WNBA season. Both teams met earlier this week where the Aces trounced Caitlin Clark and Co. 86-75 in a game that saw A’ja Wilson break records. She recorded her 941st point of the season to break the league’s single-season scoring record by Jewell Loyd last year.
She dropped 27 points on the night, putting her one step closer to becoming the first player to reach 1,000 points in a single season. It was another double-double performance from Wilson as she also dished out 12 rebounds.
Friday’s meeting will be between two heavyweights in Wilson and Clark, with the latter throwing her hat in the ring for MVP consideration. The forward is already looked at as a favorite to clinch her third MVP honors, while Clark is already pegged to win Rookie of the Year.
A win would see the Fever improve to 20-18 and stay sixth in the overall standings. The Aces, meanwhile, could inch closer to the No. 3 seed with a win and hope that the Connecticut Sun – playing the Phoenix Mercury on Friday – loses that contest. It will be interesting to see how this matchup turns out in front of a packed Indiana arena.
Where to watch Las Vegas Aces vs Indiana Fever? Date, time, streaming options, and more
The Las Vegas Aces versus Indiana Fever matchup tips off at 7:30 p.m. ET at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Local coverage will be on ION while the game can be streamed on FuboTV or the WNBA app with a subscription to WNBA League Pass.
Player to watch out for: Caitlin Clark
While all eyes will be on A’ja Wilson whose mercurial run saw Las Vegas coast to a solid win in their last encounter, Caitlin Clark had one of her worst shooting performances of the season. After averaging 19.1 points, 5.7 rebounds and 8.4 league-high assists in her rookie year, the guard is unlikely to have another damp outing. She ended her last game with 16 points, three rebounds and six assists.
Expect her to have a better game despite a more physical defense from the Aces when limiting her scoring opportunities. With the Fever making the playoffs, Caitlin Clark could be a key player to keep an eye on when the two sides meet on Friday.
