It hasn’t been an incredible season for the Indiana Fever by any means, but the team has gone from a 13-27 record in 2023 to clinching the playoffs with two weeks left in the season this year. A huge reason for that has been the arrival of Caitlin Clark, the collegiate superstar who has acclimated with ease to the WNBA.

Clark demands greatness from herself, and it has clearly rubbed off on her teammates. One would think Clark and the Fever are ecstatic to have clinched a playoff spot on Tuesday night, but Clark gave a Kobe Bryant-esque answer when asked about it before their game against the LA Sparks on Wednesday.

Caitlin Clark wants more than just WNBA playoff berth

Clark didn’t outright dismiss that making the playoffs is in fact a “great accomplishment“, but she left it clear that this was her expectation when she came into the league.

For me, this isn’t like a party… I mean, I’m not just happy to be in the playoffs. I think we have the type of team that can win and advance [in the playoffs].

Clark and her teammates will surely cherish the opportunity to make it to the postseason, but they have high hopes despite not being a top seed. They have won seven out of their last eight games since returning from the All-Star and Olympics break.
