Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever have found their second win after the extended Olympics break. The Fever registered a solid 92-75 win over Seattle Storm in their Sunday night clash in the WNBA.

As expected, Clark stuffed the stat line. She finished the game with 23 points, five rebounds, and nine assists in 36 minutes of playing time. Clark’s performance helped the Fever improve their season record to 13-15 as the franchise remains in contention for a spot in the postseason.

It was yet another historic night for the Iowa product as she broke the WNBA’s record for most assists in a rookie season. The achievement seemingly rubbed Storm’s Skylar Diggins-Smith the wrong way as she bumped Clark while walking back to the locker room.

Shannon Sharpe defends Clark

Clark is undoubtedly on the path to greatness in the women’s basketball universe. Evidently, she is bringing a lot more eyes to the league. However, instead of being happy with the new-found fanbase, the rest of the WNBA is seemingly holding a grudge against the NCAA’s all-time scoring leader.

Renowned analyst Shannon Sharpe seemingly had enough of the unfair treatment towards CC. Unc called out the WNBA in an epic rant on the Nightcap podcast.

“They gotta stop this foolishness,” Sharpe said. “Y’all see the woman speed up. Caitlin Clark is getting the crowd going. Y’all see Skylar Diggins speed up to make contact with her. Stop this! Y’all mad cause that corn-fed, Iowa girl, busting y’all a**. Y’all say, ‘She too weak. She can’t do this.’ She leads the WNBA in assists. She cooking. Let her cook! Let her cook!”

As Sharpe said, the WNBA needs to stop this foolishness. Clark has already proved that she is head and shoulders above the rest of the rookies this season. Moreover, when we take a close look at the clip where Diggins bumped into the Fever star, it is visible that she was just hyping up the fans.

Clark is the Michael Jordan of the WNBA

Without MJ’s meteoric rise during the 1980s and 1990s, the NBA wouldn’t have evolved into the global phenomenon it is today. Jordan’s extraordinary athleticism drew fans to their screens and action-packed arenas, eager to witness His Airness in action.

Fast forward to 2024, Clark’s shooting prowess and passion for the game of basketball make her one of the most electrifying athletes in the world. Even as a rookie, her ability to fill the seats is unparalleled.

Given that, it wouldn’t be surprising if Clark adopts a more physical style of play to counter the unfair hostility and jealousy from other players in the league.
