There was no shortage of female icons on show at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Wednesday night, as Olympic heroes Simone Biles and Gabby Thomas turned up to watch Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever.

Fresh from their gold medal success at the Paris 2024 Games, sprinter Thomas and gymnast Biles were in the house for the WNBA game – Biles’ first ever.

And after watching Clark break yet more records and the Fever record a win over the Connecticut Sun, the famous duo headed to the locker room to meet the players.

In a video posted to social media by the Fever, many of the players appeared starstruck to meet Biles and Thomas, just weeks after their gold medal showing in Paris.

In a photo that will surely be viewed millions of times, Biles, Clark and Thomas then posed together – displaying the very best of female sport in one image.

Each got three gold medals, with Biles picking up victories in the Women’s Artistic Individual All-Around, the Women’s Artistic Team All-Around, and the Women’s Vault Artistic, while she also picked up a silver in the Floor event.

It has been something of a gold-medal rookie year for Clark too, who breaks new records seemingly every week after being drafted No. 1 overall by the Fever.

Indiana are looking likely to make the WNBA playoffs in Clark’s rookie year, and currently sit 7th in the standings.

On social media on Wednesday, Thomas posted various images from her trip to Indiana, first sharing a selfie alongside the caption: ‘Hello Indy’.

Biles, meanwhile, filmed her arrival at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, and then a photo of her drink in the VIP box the athletes were sat in.
