Taylor Swift Takes A Clever Swipe At Kanye West By Altering Her Kim Kardashian Diss Track
Taylor Swift has slightly tweaked the title of her song “thanK you aIMee,” which is believed to be a scathing diss aimed at longtime rival Kim Kardashian, especially as it had the letters K, I, and M all capitalized.
However, in the new live version of the track, the pop star cleverly tweaked the song’s name to reflect the new name of rapper Kanye West, with whom she has had a long-running feud that dates back to the 2009 VMAs.
Kanye West also recently subtly dissed Taylor Swift when he referenced her and her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, in a new “Vultures 2” track.
Taylor Swift Changes Title Of Kim Kardashian ‘Diss Track’ To Throw Shade At Kanye West
According to the Daily Mail, the “Bad Blood” singer altered the title of her alleged Kim Kardashian diss track, “thanK you aIMee,” for a new live version of the song.
A source told the news outlet in April that “Taylor has humiliated Kim, and she knows that there is nothing she can do about it,” adding that “Kim got what she feared was coming to her eventually, and is now backed in a corner because she knows Taylor’s army will destroy her if she says anything.”
However, Swift treated her fans to a new live recording of the song this week, albeit with a slight change to its name.
The revamped title now appears to take aim at a different A-lister, as it’s now stylized as “thank You aimEe,” with the letters Y & E capitalized to spell YE, the new name of Kardashian’s ex-husband, Kanye West.
In the song, Swift sings about a school bully who “wrote headlines in the local paper” sneering at her and even threw “punches” that left her blood “gushing.”
“Everyone knows that my mother is a saintly woman, but she used to say she wished that you were dead,” she sang in one verse.
Kanye West And Taylor Swift Had A Major Fallout
West’s long-running feud with Swift dates back to the 2009 MTV VMAs, where the rapper interrupted her acceptance speech to praise legendary singer Beyoncé, who lost to Swift in the Best Female Video category.
Since then, the pair have maintained a fractured relationship, with West heating things up with a provocative line in his 2016 song “Famous,” rapping, “I made that b-tch famous” – a sly reference to his encounter with Swift seven years prior.
In the video, West could be seen in a scene lying in bed next to dummies of several topless celebrities, including those of his then-wife, Kardashian, as well as Swift.
The “Blank Space” hitmaker later claimed that she had no idea West would use the line, “I made that b-tch famous,” even though there was speculation that she had approved the lyrics.
Kim Kardashian Was Dragged Into Their Feud
Kardashian was dragged into West’s altercation with Swift when the popstar denied authorizing her then-husband’s lyric for his song “Famous.”
At the time, the “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” star released a video of West’s phone call with Swift in which he told her he’d use the line, “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex.”
The video suggested that Swift had lied about not being warned about the song, for which she endured a public backlash. The incident is believed to have led her to take a hiatus from music at the time, only to return in 2017 when she fired back at the then-couple in her iconic song “Look What You Made Me Do.”
She seemingly took jabs at Kardashian in the music video as she mimed shooting a gun while sitting in a tub full of diamonds, making it look like she was joking about the reality TV star’s Paris hotel robbery when she was gagged in a bathtub as the robber carted away with her jewelry.
The trio’s altercation resurfaced in 2020 when a longer video of West and Swift’s conversation emerged, showing that the “Can’t Tell Me Nothing” rapper never consulted her about the use of the word “b-tch” or claims that he “made her famous.”
Taylor Swift Said Kim Kardashian And Kanye West ‘Took Her Down Psychologically’
Last year, during a chat with Time, Swift shared how much of an impact her feud with West and Kardashian had on her career and well-being.
The singer, while referencing the 2016 spat between her and the former couple, noted that it felt like “career death” being called a snake after denying ever consenting to West singing about her with vulgar lyrics in his song.
“You have a fully manufactured frame job, in an illegally recorded phone call, which Kim Kardashian edited and then put out to say to everyone that I was a liar,” Swift to the publication.
She continued, “That took me down psychologically to a place I’ve never been before. I moved to a foreign country. I didn’t leave a rental house for a year. I was afraid to get on phone calls. I pushed away most people in my life because I didn’t trust anyone anymore. I went down really, really hard.”
Kanye West Mentions The Singer And Her NFL Boyfriend In New Song
The end to the feud between West and Swift doesn’t seem to be around the corner, as Swift and her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, were name-dropped in a song on his new “Vultures 2” album.
In the song titled “Lifestyle” (Demo), featured artist Lil Wayne raps, “I twist my Taylor spliffs tight at the end like Travis Kelce,” allegedly referencing Swift’s relationship with the Kansas City Chiefs tight end.
Swift and Kelce have been going strong in their relationship as they recently celebrated their first anniversary.
She has been seen visiting his games to cheer him on as his number one fan, while he has also returned the gesture by attending her shows and even performing with her.
