Caitlin Clark didn’t have the best game offensively against the Minnesota Lynx on Sunday. In fact, one could say that it was a forgettable night for the Indiana Fever rookie after she made just five shots out of her 17 attempts in the game.
Despite the poor outing, however, Clark isn’t getting discouraged by it. She also has no plans of changing how she approaches the game, even amid questions and concerns about her shot selection.
Clark is a shooter, and she’ll keep firing no matter what, per Matthew Byrne of ClutchPoints.
“No, I don’t think I was overeager,” Clark said when asked about her shooting against the Lynx, particularly the catch-and-shoot 31-footer she botched and the 28-foot step-back that resulted in an airball in the third quarter.
“I’m just going to take shots that I think are good shots. … If they probably went in, it would probably be a different story. You probably would have asked me a different question. But I think as a shooter and somebody that needs to score, and something that this team needs, is like, I can’t stop … you got to just continue to play through it.”
When Caitlin Clark entered the WNBA, she was largely known for her shooting prowess, specifically from long distance. However, against the Lynx, she struggled big time and went 2-of-11 from deep.
Following that performance, several fans criticized her for throwing a lot of threes and missing more often than not. For the season, Clark is averaging 33.2 percent from deep.
Clearly, though, the Fever All-Star isn’t getting bothered by those talks.
