Dawn Staley switches up her opinion on Caitlin Clark’s Team USA snub

In an interview with NBC Sports, Dawn Staley expressed her opinion about Caitlin Clark’s omission from the USA Women’s National Basketball Team for the Paris Olympics.

“Caitlin is just a rookie in the WNBA, wasn’t playing bad, but wasn’t playing like she’s playing now,” Staley said. “If we had to do it all over again, the way that she’s playing, she would be in really high consideration of making the team. She is playing head and shoulders above a lot of people.”

“But listen, the season is halfway through and Caitlin is coming. Caitlin is coming. If I had to pick today, it’s Angel. But over the course of the season? I’ll say this, whatever team makes the playoffs, that’s our Rookie of the Year.”

Clark is averaging 17.1 points, 5.8 rebounds and 8.2 assists. She also broke the WNBA record for most assists in a game with 19 assists in a 101-93 loss against the Dallas Wings. It will be interesting to see who does win the race for ROTY in the WNBA.
