Caitlin Clark wowed basketball fans once again during the Indiana Fever-Dallas Wings matchup on Wednesday night at College Park Center, with an impressive behind-the-back move to free herself up for an easy layup.
In the first quarter of the game on Wednesday night, Clark shook Wings veteran Odyssey Sims with a nifty behind-the-back move to tie the game early on.
The move left fans in awe of her skills, with many offering their praise on X/Twitter:
“She makes most players look lost. ROTY,” commented another.
Damn next time use gorilla glue to stick with Clark,” said yet another.
Some fans offered their takes, arguing that the play could have been a travel:
“Am I the only one that thinks she traveled?” one fan questioned.
“So we just gonna ignore the travel. Which would have been another turnover to her record,” another fan said.
One fan even refuted the travel claims:
“All the people say she traveled need to watch again because you’re wrong. At the end she does a jump stop and never lifts her established pivot foot. No travel,” one fan argued.
Clark, currently averaging 16.8 points, 7.8 assists and 5.8 rebounds per game, has started to hit her stride in the WNBA as of late and is getting more comfortable as her rookie season progresses.
Caitlin Clark continues to impress fans
Later in the first half, Clark became the fastest player in WNBA history with 400 points and 200 assists in just 26 games. Furthermore, she broke the Fever franchise record for assists in a season.
Clark also finished the game with a WNBA-record 19 assists to go along with 24 points and six rebounds in a historic performance. Clark broke the previous record of 18, set by Courtney Vandersloot in 2020.
In 40 minutes, Clark shot 10-for-19 from the field for an efficient 52% from the floor and went 2-for-9 from behind the arc.
Clark’s stellar play made her the leader in the fan-voting portion of the WNBA All-Star voting, totaling 700,735 votes.
With the 101-93 loss in Wednesday night’s matchup, the Fever sit at 11-15 for the season so far, currently third in the Eastern Conference standings and seventh overall in the league.
After the All-Star and Olympics break, Clark and Co. will host the Phoenix Mercury at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Aug. 16.
