“Absolutely filthy”- Fans lambast Diamond DeShields for flagrant foul on Caitlin Clark.

Diamond DeShields starred in a controversial moment with Caitlin Clark during Friday night’s
Chicago Sky vs Indiana Fever game. With 3:52 seconds left on the clock in the fourth quarter and
the Fever holding a 96-71 advantage, Clark got a pass off a steal from Aliyah Boston. As she took
off for the fast break, DeShields went after her, lowered her shoulder and hit Clark.

She was issued a flagrant 1 foul for that action, but the call was only the beginning, as several
fans took to social media to flame DeShields. The harsh comments didn’t take long to arrive, with
some fans asking for severe sanctions for DeShields.

“Diamond Deshields is being absolutely filthy towards Caitlin Clark at the moment,” one fan said.

“Diamond Deshields is a s ** t bag for this. She’s a veteran player. She knows exactly what she did
to Caitlin Clark,” another fan emphatically said.

“WNBA should make a rule where players targeting others purposefully should be fined and
forced to sit out!” another fan expressed.

Others called for more action from Clark or her teammates.

“Her last 3 fouls on Clark was unnecessary and flagrant. Clark or her teammate better swing on
someone to get this shit to stop,” one fan wrote.

One fan compared that play to a football tackle.

Clark had the last laugh over DeShields, as the Fever dominated the game securing the win and
the regular-season series over the Sky, who lost their fifth consecutive game.

Caitlin Clark came off a 19-point performance against the Connecticut Sun to beat that team for
the first time this season. The WNBA star rookie picked up from where she left off and raised the
bar against the Sky, going for a season-high 31 points on 8-of-14 from the field and 5-of-9 from
distance.

She only missed one of her 11 free-throw attempts, grabbed four rebounds, dished 12 assists and
turned the ball over just three times.

It was a pretty efficient game for Clark, who couldn’t be stopped by DeShields or whoever Teresa
Weatherspoon put on her. The Fever got the 100-81 win to reach the .500 mark with a 16-16
record.

This team’s turnaround after a shaky start is nothing short of remarkable. They looked lost at the
start of the season, but as the weeks went by and Caitlin Clark found her rhythm, things started
falling into place for Indiana.
