WNBA Superstar Caitlin Clark Surprises Fans with Impressive New Skill

Caitlin Clark might be exploring a second career off the basketball court. As the Indiana Fever gear up for their first playoff series since 2016, facing the heavily favored Connecticut Sun in the WNBA’s first round, Clark, the Rookie of the Year frontrunner, showcased an unexpected new skill: baseball announcing.

On Wednesday, Clark took a break from her intense playoff preparations to try her hand at calling a baseball game. During a Milwaukee Brewers matchup against the Philadelphia Phillies, Clark decided to give her commentary from what appeared to be a bedroom, adding a playful twist to her day. Teammate Lexie Hull captured the entire scene on video, filming Clark as she provided her version of a live play-by-play.

The Fever star didn’t just casually describe the action; she went all in, even trying out her best “announcer voice.” At one point, she humorously attempted to call the game: “Runner on first, no outs… this brings… someone to the plate.” That “someone” turned out to be Brewers outfielder Garrett Mitchell, but Clark’s lack of baseball knowledge only added to the charm.

As the inning progressed, Clark continued her play-by-play, noting Phillies starter Aaron Nola’s cleats—something not typically mentioned in most broadcasts but drew plenty of laughs from Hull and those watching. Clark herself couldn’t help but smile, struggling to keep a straight face through her impromptu announcing debut.

Hull later posted the video on social media, and it quickly garnered attention. Clark even jokingly tagged the Phillies in the comments, asking if they’d consider hiring her as a broadcaster.

While Clark’s baseball announcing may have been in jest, the star guard’s focus is now fully on her first WNBA playoff run. The Fever, underdogs against the top-ranked Connecticut Sun, face a significant challenge. The Sun boasts the league’s best defense, and Clark will need to bring her A-game as she leads her team into the postseason.

Though Clark’s talent for basketball is undeniable, her brief stint as a baseball announcer shows she’s not afraid to have some fun and explore new skills.

Whether or not she has a future in the booth, for now, all eyes are on her as she embarks on what could be a historic playoff run for the Indiana Fever.
