Caitlin Clark continues to break new ground just a few months into her sensational rookie season with the Indiana Fever.
In their game against the Dallas Wings on Wednesday night – the last before this weekend’s All-Star showpiece and a subsequent pause in schedule for the Olympic Games – Clark smashed two new records on another remarkable evening to boost her chances of beating Angel Reese to WNBA Rookie of the Year.
The first came when she laid on her 202nd assist of the campaign for Indiana, which set a new franchise record for the most in a single season – an incredible feat after just 26 games for the team.
And after going on to register an astonishing 19 in total against Dallas, the No 1 draft pick also put up the most assists in a single game by a rookie in WNBA history.
Despite her heroics, though, the Fever slumped to a 101-93 defeat against the Wings at College Park Center.

It has been an astonishing debut season so far regardless for Clark, who has broken a host of records up in the big leagues already following her iconic college career with Iowa.
Earlier this month she became the first rookie ever to put up 400 points, 150 assists and 100 rebounds, while also becoming the first to record a triple-double.
Clark is currently battling it out with arch-rival Angel Reese for this season’s WNBA Rookie of the Year award, with opinion divided on who should prevail.
Like her fellow rookie, Reese is enjoying a breathtaking campaign with the Chicago Sky and currently ranks second in the league for rebounds with 11.9 per game.
Clark, meanwhile, is the highest-scoring rookie in the league with an average of 16.8 points per game, while she is also out in front altogether in the assist charts with 7.8 per game.

As the debate rages on as to who will be crowned winner, NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal picked Reese as his ‘definite’ frontrunner this week.
‘I’m not just saying this because she went to LSU,’ O’Neal, who attended the same college as Reese, said on ESPN’s Sports Center.
‘[But] I think she’s definitely leading in the Rookie of the Year race.
‘I give the vote to Angel.’
Despite picking Reese as his Rookie of the Year, Shaq still heaped praise on Clark amid her record-breaking season so far in Indiana.
‘Caitlin is a fabulous player, the female Steph Curry,’ he continued. ‘They [Clark and Reese] have done a lot for the game.

‘Caitlin and Angel, because of social media and all the media outlets, they really brought the game where it should’ve been 10 years ago.
‘So I’m really happy for women’s basketball, they always play hard and their fundamentals are great.
‘But listen, Caitlin Clark is a fabulous player, Angel Reese is a fabulous player… but Imma give it to Angel Reese right now.’
