Women’s basketball legend Cheryl Miller recently shared her opinion of Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark. The 22-year-old out of Iowa continues to blossom into a WNBA star, showing her elite versatility on the offensive end.

Miller explained that while Clark knows how to score the ball at a high level, her playmaking ability is an underrated part of her game.

“There are a lot of shooters out there. There are shooters that are natural, shooters who work on their game, shooters who need several screens to get open. You can set a screen for Catlin; Caitlin don’t need a screen. Caitlin’s got great handles. The one thing that I don’t think people really appreciate about that young lady’s game is she can pass the ball,” Miller said.

Miller is widely known as one of the best women’s basketball players to ever play the game, despite the knee injuries that plagued her shot at the WNBA. The Hall of Famer made a lasting mark on the NCAA, leaving the USC Trojans as a two-time NCAA Champion and three-time Naismith Player of the Year.

She is also a former WNBA coach, having led the Phoenix Mercury to a WNBA Finals appearance in 1998. Despite ending that season as the runner-up, Miller’s background proves that she’s a knowledgeable figure in the basketball landscape.

Her take on Clark’s passing has become a popular declaration as the season progressed. The rookie’s versatility has truly caught the attention of the WNBA community.

Clark has averaged 16.8 points and 7.8 assists per game through the Fever’s 11-14 record. She currently leads the league in the assists category. Throughout the month of July, Clark has averaged 11.2 assists per game, proving that she’s an incredible facilitator.
