While the family of AKA – real name Kiernan Forbes – are hoping for justice over his gruesome m@@@er, they’re also mindful that it will never bring him back.
That was the message by the rapper’s mother, Lynn Forbes, who chatted to eNCA about the high-profile investigation.
AKA was shot and ki@@@d by unknown gunmen outside a Durban restaurant more than two months ago. Arrests of the suspects have yet to be made.
AKA’S MOM PATIENT WITH INVESTIGATION
Speaking in an eNCA interview, Lynn Forbes acknowledged the public’s frustration behind the “Justice For AKA” social media campaign.
She said: “All of this is bigger than Kiernan and the Forbes family, so when the Megacy asks for justice for AKA, they’re actually asking for justice as a country. And I support them on that”
Lynn added that her family was “patient” with police, who have yet to make any official arrests.
She continued: “They can’t share information with us that will jeopardise the investigation, but we are updated on a regular basis on what is happening.

“What we know is what we need to know. And I don’t want to rush them. Kiernan is gone for me, and nothing that is going to be rushed will bring him back.
“It doesn’t matter who gets arrested. That is never going to change. Im speaking on behalf of myself. Imm allowing the investigation to run its course”.
‘I DON’T KNOW IF HE HAD ENEMIES’
Meanwhile, Lynn was questioned about her knowledge of anyone who would want to harm her son.
She said: “I don’t want to believe that he had any enemies or that somebody hated him that much….
“That for me is a very calculated act.”

Her comments were echoed by AKA’s Durban bodyguard Anwar ‘Dogg’ Khan. He said in an interview with Annika Larsen last month: “Kiernan had no enemies. I would have known because our operation and everything that we do in the industry is intelligence driven. That’s how we survived for so long”.

Analysing data from confiscated cellphones
