Kate Martin’s Olympics break has included stops in Iowa City and Kansas City.

The 2018 Edwardsville High School graduate and current Las Vegas Aces guard threw out the first pitch at the Kansas City Royals game on Saturday inside Kauffmann Stadium.

Throwing from the rubber, Martin delivered the pitch to Royals mascot Sluggerrr.

On July 25, Martin returned to the University of Iowa to talk to her former teammates and coaches.

Martin’s travels have come during a month long break from the WNBA, as the Olympic Games are being played in Paris. The Aces last played on July 16 and will not play again until August 17.

In the July 16 game against the Chicago Sky, Martin suffered a lower leg injury in the second quarter and was helped off the court. She didn’t return to the game. KCCI reports it was a bruised Achilles.

In 22 games in her rookie season with the Aces, Martin is averaging 3.6 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.2 minutes. She’s averaging 14.3 minutes per game.

According to a report in the Sports Business Journal, Martin ranks fourth in jersey sales by Fanatics. Caitlin Clark is No. 1 for the Indiana Fever, followed by Chicago Sky’s Angel Reese and Liberty’s Sabrina Ionescu. Martin’s Las Vegas teammate A’ja Wilson is fifth. Clark, Reese and Martin are all rookies.
