The Indiana Fever got back to winning ways on Sunday, September 8, following a thrilling 104-100 overtime victory against the Atlanta Dream. Caitlin Clark and Co. saw their five-game win streak snapped on Friday, September 6, after suffering a 99-88 loss at the hands of the No. 2 seed Minnesota Lynx. Indiana made sure to quickly make amends on Sunday.
Clark had another tremendous outing in this one, turning in a 26-point, 12-assist double-double with four triples. It was, however, All-Star teammate Aliyah Boston who stole the show with an eye-popping 30-point explosion to go along with 13 rebounds, five assists, a steal and a block in 41 minutes of play.
After the win, Clark made her thoughts on Boston’s massive performance abundantly clear.
“AB’s a dawg,” Clark said of Boston. “She’s all over the glass, came up with clutch buckets, tied it for us, solid in overtime. She’s just different.”
I see no lies here.
As Clark said, it was Boston’s clutch heroics in the dying seconds of regulation that forced the game to overtime.
The Fever (19-17) needed this one to strengthen their hold on the No. 6 seed in the WNBA. They now have a two-game advantage over the Phoenix Mercury, who are currently sitting on a 17-19 record.
Clark, Boston and the rest of the squad will be back in action on Wednesday, September 12, in a crucial matchup against the two-time defending champions Las Vegas Aces. They take on A’js Wilson and Co. again on Friday, September 13, with both games set to take place at the Mortgage Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
