WNBA sensation Angel Reese is living the dream after a stellar first year with the Chicago Sky. Despite an early end to her season due to a wrist injury, the 22-year-old power forward, also known as ‘Bayou Barbie,’ broke records, achieving the highest number of double-doubles for a rookie and setting a new WNBA record for rebounds per game.
Reese’s prowess on the court has contributed significantly to the league’s soaring popularity. The former NCAA champion commands a massive social media following – 4.4 million on Instagram and 4.6 million on TikTok, with nearly 115 million likes across her videos.
Reese has admitted that her WNBA salary doesn’t cover the rent for her luxurious £6,000-per-month ($8,000) apartment. The former LSU star’s annual wage is around £56,407 ($73,439), approximately £16,000 short of what she needs for a year’s rent in her Chicago flat.
Instead, she relies heavily on lucrative sponsorships for her income.
“Hating pays my bills, baby. I just hope you know the WNBA don’t pay my bills at all,” Reese remarked on Instagram earlier this month. “I don’t even think that pays one of my bills. Literally, I’m trying to think of my rent for where I stay at. I’m gonna do the math real quick. I don’t even know my salary.”
“Yo, I’m living beyond my means,” she chuckled.
“No, my rent is more than that. It’s $8,000. I’m living beyond my means.”
Reese offered a glimpse into her life by sharing a photo of herself relaxing at home, complete with Louis Vuitton bags to set the scene, showcased by a pink carpet, cushions, and a fluffy plant beside a white sofa in her spacious living space.
Following her selection as the seventh draft pick this year, Reese celebrated her move to Chicago by treating herself to a Mercedes-Benz upgrade. The 22-year-old proclaimed on her socials: “‘New City. New beginnings. New big body Barbie Benz”, flaunting her fresh G-Wagon ride.

Favored by sports stars, the vehicle boasts a lush red leather interior and slick black rims. With a hefty base price of $183,000, it supersedes the car she bought herself for her 21st.
Her previous motor, a Mercedes-Benz EQS-class 580 acquired during her stint in Louisiana, is valued at $143,000.
Before confirming her split with Cam’Ron Fletcher, a Florida State forward, in March, she confirmed their romance; however, now believes a taller guy, possibly from the NBA, would suit her better, considering she’s a lofty six-foot-three.

“Yeah, I’m single,” Reese admitted on her Unapologetically Angel podcast. “I don’t got no man. Don’t attach me to no man. That’s all I’mma say. That’s it.”
She also mentioned her preference for prospective boyfriends: “Nah, he gotta be tall. Six-seven, six-eight. Yeah, NBA.”
Known as the ‘Bayou Barbie,’ Reese boasts an impressive stat line of 13.6 points, 13.1 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.3 steals per game for the Sky.
Though the WNBA is off till next year, Reese has signed up for the upcoming Unrivaled three-on-three basketball league, which promises players a minimum six-figure salary.
