Fever’s Caitlin Clark shares honest message after making history vs. Sun
Caitlin Clark makes more histor
Caitlin Clark made WNBA history during the Indiana Fever’s 84-80 victory over the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday. Clark surpassed Rhyne Howard for the most three-pointers made by a rookie in a single-season, per ESPN. After the game, Clark credited her team and the fans, via the Indiana Fever.
“I’m proud of our group,” Clark told reporters after the game. “I thought we came in very motivated, very excited for this game, I thought our crowd was honestly incredible. They were really into the game… That certainly helps us a lot especially when you need a big stop there at the end. Like, that’s huge. It feels like there’s another defender on the floor and I’m just really thankful for that.”
Clark continued to cement her WNBA Rookie of the Year case on Tuesday. The Fever rookie scored 19 points and added five assists, five rebounds, one steal and one block. Of course, setting the new WNBA record for three-pointers made by a rookie in a single-season will help matters as well.
Fever look like serious contenders
The Fever are surging up the standings. Indiana is now 4-1 since the Olympic break came to an end. Kelsey Mitchell’s play has been impressive in recent action, a trend that continued on Tuesday. Mitchell led the Fever with 23 points in the win. She added four rebounds, three assists and two blocks.
The Fever are still 11 games back in the Eastern Conference, as the New York Liberty appear to be poised to clinch the best record in the conference. All Indiana needs to do is book their ticket to the postseason, however. If they accomplish that feat then anything can happen once the postseason gets underway.
The Fever will try to continue playing well as they prepare to embark upon a two-game road trip. Indiana will play the Chicago Sky on Friday before heading to Dallas for a game against the Wings.
