Virat Kohli in action for RCB [X]
So, it looks like Virat Kohli has moved out of India and has settled in England. A couple of months ago, it was speculated that the former India captain is planning to move to London, to spend the rest of his life with his family.
Recent photos of Kohli, spotted on the London street has fuelled the fire in the rumour. There is a high-chance, that Kohli might opt for a British Citizenship, and that can actually change the dynamics of cricket.
In this piece, we weill talk about, what if, Kohli obtains British Citizenship, and how will it affect his cricketing career.
Will Kohli play IPL as overseas player?
If Kohli indeed becomes a British Citizen, there is a chance that he will play in the IPL as one of the foreign players. Even though, Britishers are allowed to have dual citizenship, but IPL follows a strict protocol, and they might ask Kohli to play as a foreign player in the cash-rich league.
In case he plays as an overseas player for RCB, Kohli, will most likely disbalance the side. With only four foreign players allowed in the playing XI, Kohli will eat one foreign quota, and that would only leave RCB with three slots. Moreover, with dual citizenship, there is a chance that the BCCI won’t select him for further India tours.
Talking about Kohli, he is on a break as of late. He is spending time with his family in London, and will be next seen in action against Bangladesh in the Test series, which starts next month.
