During his three-decades-long career, Aamir has portrayed several versatile characters, earning him a massive fan following. However, his immense focus and dedication to his craft negatively impacted the actor’s work-life balance. Recently, Aamir Khan shared about how his former wife, Kiran, pointed out that he was often ‘mentally absent’ in his personal life.

Recently, Aamir Khan and his ex-wife, Kiran Rao got a special opportunity to screen their popular film, Laapataa Ladies at the Supreme Court of India. For the unversed, Aamir was the producer, and Kiran directed it. During the film screening, Aamir interacted with the audience and shared an anecdote about how he used to complain about being unable to meet his mom due to work.
Aamir Khan added that his then-wife, Kiran Rao, pointed out that he was often physically present but mentally absent in his real life. For instance, he could have easily met his mom who lived two floors upstairs but instead complained about not being able to meet her. He was quoted as saying:
“She said, ‘I understand you are physically with us but mentally not’. She told me a very loving thing, ‘You often tell me you are unable to meet Ammi, she lives just two floors above you, who is stopping you?'”
Aamir Khan admits that he has been a workaholic for a significant part of his life
In the same conversation, Aamir shared more about working in the film Industry for more than three decades. He shared that he has spent 35 years engrossed in his work and has been a thorough workaholic. In his words:
“About 35 years of my life has gone into complete madness. I was a workaholic.”

Last year, in a conversation with News18, Aamir Khan shared that he regrets not being able to spend enough time with his family and kids. A couple of years ago, he realised how his entire focus on work made him neglect his family and relationships. At the same time, this understanding left him unhappy and disturbed. However, after the box office failure of his last film, Lal Singh Chaddha, the actor has taken a break from work and is often seen spending time with his family.
