Whether you believe it or not, the 2024 WNBA regular season is winding down. There’s just one month left before playoff spots are all clinched and the postseason gets underway.
Perhaps no other team has benefited more from the All-Star and Olympics break than the Indiana Fever. Caitlin Clark, in particular, has reaped the rewards of an extended rest. With a refreshed Clark, the Fever have won the first two games since play resumed, and are currently in a playoff spot. Although the on-court stuff is what Clark is focused on, she couldn’t help but get carried away when asked about her upcoming game against the Minnesota Lynx.
Minnesota Lynx to retire Maya Moore’s jersey with Clark in attendance
During that Fever-Lynx game in Minnesota, the franchise will be retiring Maya Moore’s jersey. Clark spoke about how Moore was one of her childhood idols, and that this game will be “really special” because of the ceremony.
Moore is a legend in every sense of the word. She came through on her potential as the 1st overall pick by Minnesota in 2011, leading them to four WNBA championships and making six All-Star teams in eight seasons. Moore was a fantastic three-point shooter throughout her college and WNBA career, so it’s no surprise Clark’s game was influenced by hers.
While the Fever look to keep their winning streak alive, the Lynx sit at 19-8 and have the third-best record in the league. They will look to spoil Clark’s party on a special night.
