“Bada** Record”: Caitlin Clark Wows Supporters with Career-High Exhibition in Fever’s Thrilling Home Finale

And she has done it again. This time with more grace and charm. The Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark took the stage for her team for one last time in this year’s regular season game at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Sunday against the Dallas Wings. Clark was already in the mood to shut her critics. Going ahead with on-song performances, the 22-year-old surpassed Seimone Augustus as the highest scorer by any rookie in a season. While Augustus had hit 744 points in 2006 for the Minnesota Lynx, Clark scored 35 points, taking her tally from 726 to 761. And this had her fans excited.
“Bada** record,” one Clark fan stated. The follower looked extremely happy seeing his star succeed at the highest level. It was Clark’s on-court brilliance that provided the impetus for the Fever to edge past the Wings by a narrow margin of 110-109. The 22-year-old was the top scorer in the game with 35 points and 8 assists. The comment came on Dave Portnoy’s tweet about Clark in which he stated “Caitlin Clark is going bonkers!!!” And this charmed her fan.
And why wouldn’t the basketball love be charmed by the Christie Sides-mentee? Clark since her first quarter made clear her plans of breaking the record. As she stepped on the court, she had to hit 19 points to surpass Augustus. And as usual, Clark over-delivered. She scored 15 points in the first half before hitting a pull-jumper to get close to Augustus’s score. Then she again hit a step-back three-pointer, this time getting past Augustus. All in all Clark’s dominance had the Fever winning the game. And as usual, Clark’s fans could not keep their calm.
Caitlin Clark fans cheer the Fever rookie for her record-breaking performance
“Whenever Caitlin Clark steps on any court she breaks a record. Baller.,” a user tweeted. The netizen was pointing out the fact that Clark already had the all-time single-season assist record and single-game assist record to her name. She had dished out 19 assists during a game against the Dallas Wings in July. To add to her credibility, the 22-year-old had surpassed Alyssa Thomas’s record of most assists in a singular season by dishing out 321 in 2024.
“She’s the MVP..,” another netizen commented. The social media user was taking note of the MVP race this season. While the Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson had hit 27 points per game with 12.1 rebounds per game, Clark wasn’t far behind. The Fever rookie had taken her team to another win with a 110-109 margin, performing well during clutch moments at the last regular season home game this year. As of now, Clark averaged 19.1 points per game with 5.8 rebounds per game and 8.4 assists per game. Thus as per the user, Clark deserved to win the award.
“Deserves to be in the NBA over Bronny,” another fan pointed out. Notably, LeBron James’ son Bronny was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers as a second-round pick whereas Clark was a first overall pick by the Indiana Fever. Hence, according to the user, Clark deserved a spot in place of Bronny James.
“Caitlin is COOKIN! 🔥🔥🔥,” another fan enumerated. The user pointed out that Clark stepped on the court to test the patience of her opponents. While in the first quarter, she performed averagely well and had to be substituted by Temi Fagbenle, in the next quarter she almost made up for her slow performance. By the end of the first half, Clark had hit 15 points. However, in the next half, she dominated the hardwood and hit a total of 35 points which helped her team win the game.
“Stupid turnovers!,” meanwhile one fan didn’t seem much pleased by Clark. As per him, she had 5.7 turnovers per game which is considerably on the higher side. Hence, as per a fan, she isn’t the best player yet.
Hopefully, Clark will go on making records for the Fever as the playoffs start. And who knows, the Fever might just end up with a Championship trophy by the end of the season.
